November Presidents Newsletter

November 2016

To our valued Members,

As we head in to our busy time of year I would like to take the opportunity of updating you with some Club news.

The Club sponsored the Bowls Club Corporate Cup, a barefoot bowls event during the month of October. Pleasingly for all this event is growing from strength to strength. This season we saw record numbers of teams at 20 and record attendees on the evening (Wednesdays). Well done to the volunteers at the Bowls Club. Everyone has so much fun we look forward to it again early next year.

Our fabulous Sports Bar continues to trade well. The Melbourne Cup carnival brought a great vibe into the venue with many attending the Club for the first time to place their bets and enjoy our facility.

On Monday 31st October, we held a Melbourne Cup Calcutta night. It was a great night for all attendees with some making the trip from as far afield as Bardon, Manly and Beenleigh. Syndicates had been formed and money pooled to purchase their considered favourite. The winner of the Calcutta on the day was a group of young men from outside the area who were here for the first time. They have already noted the date for next year. In preparation for that, throughout the year, get your groups together, save your pennies and we look forward to hosting this one again next year.

Melbourne Cup day was a busy one for the Club. Over 70 attended the function upstairs and a continual stream of people flowed through the doors in the Sports Bar.

We have committed to showing every UFC match live in the Sports Bar so if you enjoy UFC come down and join us.

We are heading into a hectic time of year with more than 3 times the amount of functions currently booked in here and at the Bowls Club than took place for the similar period last year. It is terrific to see so many businesses and groups enjoying their local facilities.

Plans are already in place for our New Years Eve function. With Route 66 ready to rock the house, dust off your jeans and checked shirts and book your spot before we sell out.

We thank you for your continued support of our Club.

Kind regards,

Neil Inglis
